That&#8217;s exactly what <a href="http://viralee.com/">Viralee</a> is doing this evening.  We&#8217;ve been receiving inquiries from numerous companies which sell fans under the table, but none have been willing to make a public announcement.<br />
<span></span><br />
The real issue here is that many services may technically violate Facebook terms.  Even if they don&#8217;t, it&#8217;s direct competition to Facebook in one regard which is why this is shaky ground to operate a business on.  In the past week alone, Viralee claims that they&#8217;ve sold over 1 million fans.  That means serious cash is being spent on fans and according to the underground companies we&#8217;ve spoken to, brands are flocking to the &#8220;<a href="http://www.allfacebook.com/2009/10/is-pay-per-fan-the-new-advertising-model-on-facebook/">pay per fan</a>&#8221; model which we&#8217;ve written about numerous times.  </p>
<p>So how long does it take for Viralee to turnaround fan orders?  The company&#8217;s founder, Dominic Holland, has provided us with the following numbers:</p>
<blockquote><p>
For 1-100 fans – same day<br />
For 1,000 fans – inside of 5 days<br />
For 10,000 fans – inside of 14 days</p>
<p>And one plan for the corporate guys is 1,000,000 fans which we guarantee within a month
</p>

<p>The only other public competitor that we know of currently, USocial, has already received a Cease And Desist letter after reportedly spamming users and gaining unauthorized access to user accounts.  Dominic Holland, founder of Viralee, tells us that &#8220;We do not take control of any users account at any time.  We create a page for the user and market it within and externally to facebook.&#8221;  </p>
<p>Pricing for fans through Viralee depends on how many you purchase.   For 10 fans it&#8217;s 50 cents per fans, whereas for 10,000 fans it&#8217;s $0.099 cents per fan.  It&#8217;s unknown whether or not Facebook will try to crack down on pay per fan services as most fans will be untargeted.  Facebook in contrast provides homepage engagement ads which can drive a large number of targeted fans.  As I <a href="http://www.allfacebook.com/2009/11/the-5-fastest-growing-brands-on-facebook-for-black-friday/">wrote yesterday morning</a>, Verizon was able to attract over 100,000 fans in a day from a single homepage advertisement.  </p>
<p>While engagement ads are sold on a CPM basis, we&#8217;re hearing that the effective cost per fan for homepage engagement ads is anywhere between $5 and $10.  Facebook appears to be experiencing growth in brand ad spend though which is why they may allow untargeted marketing services to peacefully coexist.  Oh and if you were wondering who Dominic Holland is, he&#8217;s the guy that Orabrush <a href="http://www.allfacebook.com/2009/05/orabrush-acquires-kisses/">acquired the &#8220;Kisses&#8221; page</a> from in a bidding war with Hershey. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Slate&#8217;s The Big Money.com released the first annual list of &#8220;The Big Money Facebook 50,&#8221; a ranking of the top fifty companies making the best use of the social networking site, Facebook. Later this week, they will release the &#8220;Twitter 12,&#8221; the twelve brands making strategic and successful use of twitter.</p>
<p>Various metrics—including fan numbers, page growth, frequency of updates, creativity as determined by a panel of judges, and fan engagement—were factored into each page’s score and ultimate rank on the list.</p>
<p>The Companies who made their way into the Big 50 spreads across various industries and sectors including beverage, fashion, technology, media etc., with some surprising honorees, such as JCPenney and Dippin’ Dots.</p>
<p>Coca-Cola took the premiere spot beating 49 other national and international brands.</p>

The power of this feature cannot be understated as a video which includes a call to action, is much more valuable than a video by itself.  If you want to drive new fans to your Facebook Page, this feature combined with high quality content is priceless.<br />
<span></span><br />
Have you ever watched a YouTube video which prompts you to subscribe to the user&#8217;s channel?  If you follow YouTube at all, you&#8217;ll notice how a large percentage of the top channels encourage users to &#8220;Subscribe&#8221;.  Those subscribers are essentially the equivalent of Facebook fans.  However the majority of videos that you see shared on Facebook Pages (including our own videos) fail to include a call to action.</p>
<p>If you want to dramatically increase the number of fans you have on your Facebook Page, there is a simple method for doing so:</p>

<ol>
<li>Develop extremely engaging video content (funny, thought stimulating, etc).  If you don&#8217;t have the creativity to come up with &#8220;viral content&#8221; that people will share, take some of the top viral videos on youtube and other sites and compile them into one with segments from each (make sure you aren&#8217;t violating copyright laws).</li>
<li>At the end of each video, prompt the viewer to become a fan and explain to them how to mouse over the top of the video (as pictured above).</li>
<li>Share the video and encourage others to share the video as well.</li>

<p>I cannot emphasize how powerful this promotional method is.  While I discussed the power of Videos in our &#8220;<a href="http://www.allfacebook.com/facebook-pages-guide/">30 Days to 3,000 Fans</a>&#8221; guide, at the time Facebook had yet to add a feature which lets users become a fan directly from the video.  My guess is that thanks to this new feature, you will see many more Pages posting videos that encourage viewers to become fans.  </p>
<p>While I occasionally see interesting videos pop-up in my news feed, the majority of them come from YouTube.  This in-video fan feature also provides a significant incentive for brands to develop creative videos, something that I&#8217;d expect to see more of over the coming months.  </p>

This year there were fortunately no deaths, however many consumers logged on to Facebook on Friday to become a fan of some of their favorite brands.  While a rapid growth in fans is not necessarily a sign of how well a company will perform for the holidays, it may provide a bit of insight into what&#8217;s popular.<br />

<h1>Verizon Adds Over 100,000 Fans In A Day</h1>
<p>Last week, the one of the fastest growing Facebook Pages was <a href="http://www.facebook.com/verizon">Verizon</a>, who on Black Friday attracted over 100,000 fans.  While we aren&#8217;t sure of the source of the boost in popularity, I&#8217;d assume that it was a result of a homepage engagement ad.  Twice over the past month, Verizon has experienced two day boosts in popularity.  While I&#8217;m sure there are customers who are fans of the company, I&#8217;m equally confident that Verizon is not the type of brand which customers would spend a lot of time searching for on Facebook.  </p>
<h1>Foot Locker</h1>
<p><a href="http://www.facebook.com/footlocker">Foot Locker</a> also experienced a jump in traffic on Black Friday, most likely a result of another homepage ad placement.  The company Page doesn&#8217;t have many extra features aside from a Store Locator and a widget which links to the company&#8217;s daily sweepstakes.  In contrast to Verizon, who grew by over 100,000 fans, Foot Locker only jumped by around 9,000 fans.  </p>
<h1>Natural Clothing</h1>
<p><a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Natural-Clothing/46923026168">Natural Clothing</a>, an online Italian retailer, has been growing at a rapid pace since Black Friday.  The company has grown from 5,800 fans to over 38,000 in just a few days.  The reason behind the growth?  I&#8217;m not quite sure but I&#8217;d assume that it&#8217;s not a result of a homepage advertisement.  The company appears to sell urban culture attire.  They also <a href="http://naturalclothing.wordpress.com/">have a blog</a> which highlights recent urban culture events, including recently released skate and snowboarding videos.</p>

<h1>Newegg.com</h1>
<p><a href="http://www.facebook.com/Newegg">Newegg.com</a>, the online computing retailer, has grown rapidly over the past few weeks, jumping from 147,000 to over 214,000 in approximately three weeks.  On Black Friday, the company was the fourth fastest growing Facebook Page, however it appears to have been part of the continuing growth of the company&#8217;s fan base, rather than a one-day jump in traffic.  The company is providing a whole slew of &#8220;Cyber Monday&#8221; deals, highlighted on the company&#8217;s Facebook Page.  </p>
<h1>Kohl&#8217;s</h1>
<p><a href="http://www.facebook.com/kohls">Kohl&#8217;s</a> appears to be yet another benefactor of homepage advertisement placement.  Alternatively, the company may have promoted it&#8217;s Facebook Page elsewhere, but the company definitely experienced a two day spike in their Facebook Page fan base, growing from over 729,000 fans on November 23 to over 846,000 fans on November 25.  The tail end of the company&#8217;s promotion resulted in an almost 5,000 fan boost on Black Friday.  The company&#8217;s Facebook Page includes a number of added features such as a &#8220;Green Scene&#8221; tool which lets you see how local Kohl&#8217;s stores are helping the environment.  </p>

Page updates are vital for a particular page to keep themselves from to vanishing out of  people&#8217;s memory.Many people becomes a fan of  Facebook pages just &#8220;for the sake of&#8221; reason though i cannot argue with the fact that there are also in fact lots of true fans who religiously follows the page. Sending Page updates to fans will visibly increased the traffic to the page. Page updates are also extremely useful for reaching out to those users who’s feeds is not displaying your Page stories due to their Wall and News Feeds privacy settings. It is to be noted that, there has been an increased click through rate on updates since the new Facebook inbox launched. It is highly recommend to all Page administrators take advantage of this increased visibility and make use of the page updates.</p>

<p>It is fairly easy to accomplish that. Just click on the “Edit Page” link on the sidebar. Under “Promote Your Page,” click on the link that says “Send an Update to Fans.”</p>
